During that delay the child died. In Jesus’ perfect timing, He gave much more than healing. They both were desperate; they both had faith, and they both needed something much more. Jesus doesn’t just heal the woman; He transfers His purity and forgives. He doesn’t just heal the young girl; He resurrects her (Luke 8:49-56). God gives more than we ask. He knows more than we know (Ephesians 2:4-5). This is what happens when heaven meets earth: recreation.

Jesus holds up humility as an essential character of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:1-4). Note the humility of a child: sincere, sensitive, and simple. The humblest child has the ability to influence many souls. Forgiveness is a characteristic of the kingdom as well (Matthew 18:21-35). You can’t even count the importance and value of forgiveness. God’s forgiveness is extreme; forgiveness is divine.
