We live in a culture of anxiousness brought on by technology, over-information and social disconnection. When we try to address this anxiousness we too often don't put prayer at the top priority. Paul tells us, in the letter of Philippians, to not be anxious, but to pray and let the peace of God guard your heart and mind.

God gave us a gift, a flame, of joy and passion. But we need to fan the flame to keep it hot and growing, "for God gave us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control." Being on fire for God warms and inspires everyone around you!

We use the metaphor of being “on fire” all the time. God uses this metaphor in Scripture all the time. From the burning bush and pillar of fire in Exodus to the flame of fire when the Holy Spirit descends in Acts. God starts the fire in us and we need to fan it such that it ignites others. Have the mind set of being filled with the Spirit not the mind set of fear.

When you look forward into the future it is good to reflect on the past as well. Hebrews 11 gives us a reflection of the faithful that "the world is not worthy". If the climax of the Bible is you and your faithful service to God, how does it read? Is it worthy?
