Sex is God's Idea. God created the world, he created us, and he created sex, but it needs to have boundaries or it can be very damaging. Sex is beautiful and can glory God in a marriage.

Sex is God’s Idea. As Christians, we believe God’s word is the true and correct way to live. Not because we are being closed minded but because we truly believe God’s way is the healthiest way mentally, physically, and spiritually. God created the world, he created us, and he created sex. There is no one else with that kind of authority to define sex and the necessary boundaries. The world tries to tell us what is true and right and good but we are very good at lying to ourselves. God is unchanging and has the authority to correct us. There is a spectrum of thought and belief ranging from “Anything goes” to “Eww”. But both extremes are not healthy spiritually. The Bible puts great importance on sex, and reserving sex for marriage. For a husband and wife to connect, and destress, and strengthen their bond, the foundation of their family unit.

We have deep desires and passions and we need to look to Jesus to fulfill them. In your marriage chose ministry over manipulation. Make some practical rules about how you resolve conflict before you are in one.

“You will never be asked to forgive someone as much as God has already forgiven you.”

James 4:1-8 says when we quarrel, our passions are at war within us. Our need for our individual self and our need for our relationship.
This week at Liferoads, we discussed the importance of navigating conflict well and even growing from it. How when we allow God to complete us, as said in Colossians 2:9 (Amplified Bible), we are able to approach an argument without expecting, forcing or manipulating a flawed spouse to meet all our needs, but with more of a ministry mindset in which we strive to meet their needs. We offer forgiveness and grace, rooted in the security and strength Christ has given us, so we can love each other with all the best parts of ourselves.

The cultural view of marriage is a magical feeling, but we need to understand it is a covenant. A strong marriage is united with God and with effort produces fruit abundant.

For the next few weeks at Liferoads, we are encouraged to set aside our marital preconceptions, whether they’ve been influenced by society or our own past experiences, and consider what an enduring biblical covenant marriage is and what love is. From the immediate euphoria of infatuation to the enduring, we will study the daily grace of a marriage as written in Ephesians 5:21-33. Each week we’ll discuss with a new couple the practical applications for these principles in our own lives. This week we shared how important our marital covenant is to us, our spouse and God. How it can carry us through the roughest of times because as we grow closer to God, we also grow closer to the one we love.
